![]() As you'll notice our character list isn't like others. Instead of listing all the characters by house, age, and blood, Euphoria Lane will be listing individuals, first by occupation, and then by social stereotypes. As a player this will give you the freedom to focus on the character's personality as opposed to house expectations. It'll also be a way for us to add diversity to our community so that there's a varying range as opposed to a static norm. If you're interested in joining us, we advise that you either A) decide on a "type" of character you want to play and then choose an appropriate name from canon. Or B) integrate the character you already have in mind into a game "type" for application purposes. Also Wanted | Quick F.A.Q.'s | Holds | Applying ![]() ![]() The way it'll work is you'll pick a character's occupation and then decide on a social stereotype in which they'd be likely to fill on an everyday basis (or vice versa). The number of people in a certain occupation is limited, so please try to level the playing field when making your decisions. We are open to suggestions of other occupations.
Note 1: These occupations and stereotypes have various ranges. We encourage players to play with the concepts and stretch their legs to find new ways to interpret the living styles of their characters. Also keep in mind that you are not limited to these selections for either list... they're simply suggestions. If you have ideas of your own we highly encourage sharing them with us. Note 2: A stereotype is a simplified and standardized conception or image invested with special meaning and held in common by members of a group. (Dictionary.com) It doesn't necessarily mean that your character acknowledges the stereotype directly. It also doesn't mean that drowning a character in the norms of a certain group will win you bonus points. We advise that the stereotype be a minor detail when drafting your character sheet. Note 3: We've reached a good number of characters that are bisexual and homosexual. If you apply for a homosexual or bisexual character, please understand that your application will be read very closely. We're all for different relationships in the game, but we don't want to sacrifice realness for the sake of slash. Note 4: Our ratio on celebrity characters has been reached. Please note that if you apply for a celebrity character, it must be a canon celebrity (such as a member of the Weird Sisters or Celestina Warbeck). No other celebrities will be accepted, and you will be asked to tweak your application. Note 5: Crossed-out stereotypes and professions generally mean that we have an influx of those in game, and would like people to explore other possibilities, to keep things even. Canon stereotypes and professions will still be accepted. Note 6: No applications for Order of the Phoenix members beyond the canonly stated Order of the Phoenix members will be accepted. Last updated: 25 January 2009. ![]() ![]() Though we don't mind if people have the same occupations or the same stereotypes, we do mind if there's an excess of certain type pairings. We encourage that all potential players keep in mind who/what's already being played in game and make a point to help us grow where diversity in cast is concerned. Also see: Master List
![]() ![]() This is a list of individuals who are dead, imprisoned, or NPCs. Deceased or jailed characters are unplayable and will not be resurrected for play. For references purposes we'll place game character's relatives/friends to this list as necessary.
![]() ![]() These are short lists of generalized ideas the mods and players have come up with that we'd like to see more of in the game. You can pick and choose however you like, or you can go with the flow and see what happens. Also see:
![]() ![]() • Do you do character holds? Yes, we do. We have a 72 hour holding process. You can place a hold on a specific character name so long as it isn't already taken and/or a specific occupation. In order to do this leave a comment to this post and we'll get back to you. • Do you do PB holds? Nope. PB's are on an entirely first come first serve basis. Should you ever apply for the same PB as someone else, whoever had their application in first gets the PB. • Can I challenge holds/pending applications? Yes! Keep in mind however that we will not extend challenging holds past the 72 hour mark. If you're challenging someone else's application you'll be required to get it in A.S.A.P. • Where do I get character names? The Lexicon is a great source for student names. As is Wikipedia, Harry Potter Wikia, and any other HP information website. Characters with out first names or unsorted are playable and deciding those details is left to player discretion. Keep in mind, however, that we will not be adding unsorted/surnames to Harry’s year. • Can I play an OC? Nope. There are more than enough minor character names to choose from. • Can I play a trio member? Sorry. The roles of Harry, Hermione, and Ron have already been filled. • What do I do if my question isn't here? Read our extensive F.A.Q here. ![]() ![]() Currently Pending: (NOT available for challenge) Currently Pending: (Available for challenge) Currently Held: (Available for challenge) Morag MacDougal ![]() ![]() The application for Euphoria Lane is located here. The bulk section must be filled by anyone who's coming in with a storyline, even if it's not necessarily a romantic one. That entails boyfriends, fiancés, newly weds, divorcees, roommates, co-workers, etc. |
